Padres 7, Dodgers 2: Los Angeles third baseman Jerry Hairston Jr. made a pair of costly errors in the seventh inning as visiting San Diego overcame a deficit to post its second straight victory.

After ending their 10-game losing streak at Dodger Stadium on Saturday thanks to a mental error by Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen, the Padres took advantage of two physical gaffes by Hairston to erase a 2-1 deficit. With two outs, Hairston made an errant throw after fielding a grounder by Cameron Maybin, keeping the inning alive.

Following a single and a walk that loaded the bases, Hairston made a nifty grab on pinch hitter Yasmani Grandal's grounder. But his throw sailed over first baseman James Loney, allowing two runs to score for a 3-2 Padres lead.

Pinch hitter Alexi Amarista greeted reliever Josh Lindblom with an RBI infield single, and Chase Headley led off the eighth with his 10th home run of the year to make it 5-2.

Los Angeles finished with five errors, its highest total since committing seven on Sept. 1, 1995.

Chris Capuano (9-5) suffered for his team's defensive lapses, taking the loss while allowing four unearned runs and five hits in 6 2/3 innings. The left-hander moved up a day to start for Chad Billingsley, who was scratched due to elbow pain.

Jason Marquis (2-5) halted his personal four-game losing streak, allowing two runs and six hits over six innings. The veteran walked three and struck out two, and won for the first time since June 13.

Hairston and Andre Ethier each had two hits and an RBI for the Dodgers, who have lost five of six and fell 1 1/2 games behind San Francisco in the National League West.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Billingsley, who is in the midst of a personal five-game losing streak, was slated to undergo an MRI to determine the problem with his elbow. ... Dodgers CF Matt Kemp was given the day off after having played two games in a row following a lengthy stay on the disabled list with a strained hamstring. ... Half of Headley's home runs this season have come against Los Angeles. ... Marquis improved to 108-107 lifetime.
