Sophomore forward Alan Griffin came off of the bench to score 15 points to lead Illinois to a 69-55 home win over Old Dominion on Saturday.

Illinois (8-3) heads to a one-week break for final exams on a two-game winning streak following a home win over No. 5 Michigan on Tuesday.

The Fighting Illini shot 46.8 percent from the field (22 of 47) overall and 35 percent from 3-point range (7 of 20), but made 17 turnovers and were outrebounded by Old Dominion 31-30.

Sophomore forward Ayo Dosunmu scored 14 points and freshman center Kofi Cockburn had 11 points and nine rebounds for Illinois.

Sophomore guard A.J. Oliver scored 17 points and junior forward Xavier Green added 13 points in a losing effort for Old Dominion, which has dropped six straight.

Old Dominion committed 19 turnovers, shot 36.8 percent from the field overall (21 of 57) and 33.3 percent from 3-point range (6 of 18).

Old Dominion played Illinois tough for the first 12 minutes, trailing only by three at 20-17 until Illinois started on a run with more than eight minutes left in the first half.

The Fighting Illini went on an 11-3 run to take a 31-20 lead with 4:29 left in the first half and were ahead 40-25 at halftime.

Illinois continued to extend its lead in the second half, going on a 9-0 run to take a 51-30 lead with 12:51 remaining in the game.

The Fighting Illini then went on a 9-0 run to take a 60-36 advantage with 8:02 remaining.

Illinois built its lead up to as many as 25 points at 69-44 before Old Dominion made a brief flurry late, cutting the Illinois lead to 69-53 with 1:20 left.

Old Dominion ended the game on a 9-0 run over the final 4:14 to make the final score look more respectable.
