Jack Roslovic scored with 4:36 remaining as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on Monday night, forging a split of two games across two days between the teams.

Roslovic skated between a pair of Carolina defenders to take the puck to the net and convert for his second goal of the season. It was one of 10 shots for the Blue Jackets in the final period.

Scott Harrington and Cam Atkinson, who converted on a penalty shot, also scored for the Blue Jackets. Vladislav Gavrikov and Seth Jones were credited with assists on the winning goal.

Joonas Korpisalo made 22 saves for Columbus.

Nino Niederreiter and Brock McGinn had goals for the Hurricanes.

The outcome ruined the season debut for Carolina goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, who was making his fifth career start in the NHL. He made 19 saves.

Harrington's first goal of the season came with 1:36 to play in the first period. The puck bounced off the shoulder of Carolina forward Andrei Svechnikov's shoulder.

Niederreiter tied the game with an unassisted goal in the second period.

The Blue Jackets were back on top slightly more than four minutes later on Atkinson's tally. It came on a short-handed situation when Carolina's Teuvo Teravainen was called for a penalty.

McGinn tied the game by shooting while diving for the puck, stretching his goals streak to three games.

The Hurricanes nearly went ahead before Roslovic's tie-breaking goal, but Niederreiter's shot hit the post after the puck got past Korpisalo.

Half of Carolina's 10 games have been decided by one-goal margins. This was the first of those that the Hurricanes lost.

The Hurricanes won 6-5 in Sunday's game.

Carolina forward Vincent Trocheck, who co-leads the team with six goals, missed the game with a lower-body injury. That forced the Hurricanes to play with just 11 forwards.
