Jake Oettinger made 35 saves and Radek Faksa had a goal and two assists as the Dallas Stars extended their winning streak to a team-record eight games with a 5-0 triumph over the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
Dallas (48-19-9, 105 points) is in first place in the Western Conference and remains a point behind the New York Rangers in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
The Stars have outscored opponents 34-11 during their dominant 8-0-0 streak. The franchise previously had six seven-game winning streaks, five since moving to Dallas.
Sam Steel and Wyatt Johnston each had a goal and an assist while Craig Smith had two assists. Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin scored the Stars' other goals.
Oettinger earned his second consecutive shutout. He made 17 saves in Dallas' previous game, a 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.
Edmonton (45-24-5, 95 points) missed a chance to reinforce its playoff position as the second-place team in the Pacific Division. The regulation loss ended the Oilers' four-game points streak (3-0-1).
Cody Ceci, Corey Perry and Leon Draisaitl all hit goalposts on near-miss chances, but the Oilers were shut out for the third time this season.
Edmonton goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 27 of 32 shots, playing well despite several breakdowns from his defense.
Faksa tipped in his own rebound 2:08 into the first period to give Dallas a quick lead. It was the only goal of what seemed to be developing as a tight game until the Stars blew things open late in the second period.
At 13:16 of the second, Miro Heiskanen sent a tremendous pass in front of Edmonton's net across to Seguin, who buried the shot for the power-play goal.
The Stars got a four-on-one rush just as an Oilers power play expired at 16:27 of the frame. Johnston became the fourth man while leaving the penalty box, and he finished the passing play for his team-leading 30th goal.
Dallas kept pouring it on, forcing two turnovers deep in the Oilers' zone in the last 1:18 before the second intermission. Benn and Steel were the beneficiaries, scoring goals within a 22-second span.
