Miles Kelly scored 27 points and Tyzhaun Claude added 19 to fuel host Georgia Tech to an 88-85 victory over Howard on Thursday night in Atlanta.

Kowacie Reeves Jr. collected 15 points and seven rebounds and Kyle Sturdivant added 11 points for the Yellow Jackets (2-0), who erased a 14-point deficit in the second half. Georgia Tech also overcame a 4-for-18 performance from 3-point range (22.2 percent) and 16-for-27 effort from the foul line (59.3 percent).

Howard's Shy Odom recorded 22 points and seven rebounds and Bryce Harris added 17 and eight, respectively. Joshua Strong sank three 3-pointers to finish with 18 points off the bench for the Bison (1-1).

Kelly drained a go-ahead 3-pointer and added another jumper to stake Georgia Tech to an 80-76 lead with two minutes remaining in the second half. Odom and Claude each scored four points for their respective teams before Strong brought Howard within two points after making a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left.

Kelly responded by drilling a pair of free throws to push Georgia Tech's lead to 86-82 with 15 seconds left. He then stole the ball and added two more free throws before Strong's 3-pointer capped the scoring.

Reeves Jr. made a layup to bring Georgia Tech within one at 42-41 with 2:04 left, however Strong sank a free throw and two layups to close out the scoring the first half.

Howard continued that momentum to start the second half, with Isiah Warfield sinking a pair of free throws to extend his team's advantage to 14 points at 57-43. The Yellow Jackets answered with a 16-2 run, highlighted by Kelly making three straight layups at one point before Deebo Coleman drilled a 3-pointer to forge a tie at 59-59.

The Bison responded in swift fashion, with Strong converting from beyond the arc and Marcus Dockery adding a layup and a 3-pointer as part of an 8-1 run.
