Andre Roberson scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half and Carlon Brown collected 15 points and eight assists as Colorado held off visiting Cal State-Bakersfield 70-64 on Monday.
Freshman Spencer Dinwiddie added 13 points for the Buffaloes (6-4), who bounced back from a home loss to Wyoming before the finals break.
Colorado can build some momentum heading into its first Pac-12 season as it closes non-conference play with lowly Texas Southern and the University of New Orleans over the next week.
Colorado trailed 27-25 at the half but quickly erased the deficit with a 12-2 burst to begin the second half. Roberson highlighted the run with a steal and transition dunk and split the 12 points evenly with Dinwiddie.
The Roadrunners cut it back to single digits and were within 47-41 with 8:10 left when they went cold, scoring two points over the next four minutes.
The Buffaloes took advantage with an 8-2 spurt and put the game away from the free throw line.
Robert Hayes scored 13 points off the bench to lead Bakersfield (5-6), which ended up shooting 38 percent in the second half.
