Jazz 90, Pistons 87: Al Jefferson collected 20 points and 10 rebounds while Paul Millsap and Randy Foye added 17 points apiece as visiting Utah defeated Detroit for the 13th time in the last 14 meetings.
Alec Burks added 12 points off the bench for the Jazz, who have won five of seven. Utah shot 50.7 percent from the field (36-of-71) and was 5-of-10 from 3-point range.
Brandon Knight scored 16 points and Greg Monroe contributed 12 and 11 rebounds for the Pistons, who lost for just the third time in their last 10 games. Detroit shot 52.3 percent (34-of-65) but was just 5-of-16 in the third quarter, during which it was outscored 25-11.
Detroit raced out to an 11-2 lead and was ahead 26-13 after one quarter before pushing the advantage to 50-39 at halftime. The lead was as large as 15 points before the Jazz began to chip away.
Utah outscored Detroit 17-5 over the final 6:39 of the third quarter to take a 64-61 advantage, and led 88-77 with two minutes left. The Pistons got within 89-87 and had a chance to tie it at the buzzer, but DeMarre Carroll got a hand in Knight's face and his 3-point attempt was well off the mark.
