Deron Williams’ layup with 6.8 seconds left in the second overtime period capped a 30-point performance that lifted the host Utah Jazz to a 109-107 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.
Los Angeles had the chance to force a third overtime but Craig Smith’s short shot bounced off the rim.
Paul Millsap had 25 points and 13 rebounds and Al Jefferson and Andrei Kirilenko tallied 18 points apiece as the Jazz evened their record at 3-3.
The Clippers let a 16-point halftime lead slip away and found themselves down by six in the second overtime before Rasual Butler hit back-to-back 3-point shots to tie the score at 107.
Eric Gordon scored 27 points for the Clippers, who also received 23 points from Chris Kaman. Blake Griffin had 16 points and 17 rebounds before fouling out.
Utah’s comeback effort hinged on shutting down Griffin and Kaman in the second half. The two players had just six points after intermission after combining for 33 in the first half.
Williams also had eight rebounds and seven assists for Utah.
