The Diamondbacks hit a franchise-record eight home runs, and they combined with the Phillies for a major-league-record 13 homers as Arizona won 13-8 at Philadelphia on Monday.

Arizona's Eduardo Escobar hit two home runs and finished with four hits and five RBIs. Ildemaro Vargas also hit two home runs while Jarrod Dyson, Ketel Marte, David Peralta and Alex Avila each homered for the Diamondbacks.

Marte had three hits and two runs as the Diamondbacks won their fifth in a row.

The Diamondbacks' previous season high for home runs in a game was five. The Phillies added five home runs -- two by Scott Kingery and one apiece for Jean Segura, Rhys Hoskins and Jay Bruce.

Kingery also had a triple in his 3-for-5 game for the Phillies, who dropped their second in a row.

The previous record for homers in a game by both teams was 12, and it involved the same two teams each time: the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox. On May 28, 1995, at Tiger Stadium, Detroit hit seven homers and Chicago slammed five as the White Sox won 14-12. On July 2, 2002, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, each team clubbed six home runs as the White Sox won 17-9.

Diamondbacks starter Taylor Clarke gave up six hits and four runs in 3 1/3 innings with two walks and four strikeouts before being lifted. Zack Godley (3-4) earned the win in relief with 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

Phillies starter Jerad Eickhoff (3-4) lasted three-plus innings and allowed five hits -- all home runs -- and seven runs. He walked two and struck out two.

After a 30-minute rain delay, the Diamondbacks began the game with back-to-back-to-back home runs for a quick 3-0 lead.

It was the sixth time in franchise history that the Diamondbacks hit three straight homers.

Dyson hit the first pitch off Eickhoff for a home run, followed by shots from Marte and Peralta for a three-run lead.

The Phillies had never allowed three consecutive homers to open a game in the history of the franchise.

Segura cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the first with a solo homer just over the fence in left.

Escobar ripped a two-run home run to right, his 16th of the season, for a 5-3 Arizona lead in the fourth. Later in the inning, Avila contributed a two-run shot for a 7-3 advantage.

Kingery laced a solo homer in the fourth, slicing the lead to 7-4.

Escobar crushed another two-run homer in the fifth, this time off Ranger Suarez, for a 9-4 lead. Vargas then added a solo homer off Suarez two outs later for a six-run advantage at 10-4.

Vargas slammed a two-run shot in the ninth for a 13-6 lead.
