Martin Necas scored for the first time in 19 games, breaking a third-period tie as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Seattle Kraken 3-2 on Sunday night in Raleigh, N.C.

Necas has nine goals this season, but he hadn't found the net since Jan. 15.

Nino Niederreiter and Teuvo Teravainen scored second-period power-play goals for the Hurricanes, who hold an 11-game point streak on home ice. Antti Raanta made 28 saves.

Alex Wennberg and Calle Jarnkrok scored in the second period for the Kraken, who lost for the ninth time in the last 10 games (1-8-1). Jarnkrok also had an assist.

Goalie Philipp Grubauer made 30 saves, though he was unsuccessful in gaining his first victory in his last eight decisions.

The Kraken, who have lost the first two games of a five-game road trip to the Eastern Conference, killed off a penalty late in regulation to give them a chance. Grubauer was pulled with more than two minutes to play.

Wennberg's power-play goal came 3:12 into the second period. It was his sixth goal of the season, with two of those in his last three games.

The Hurricanes, who avenged a one-goal loss at Seattle in November, countered with a power-play tally just less than four minutes later.

Jarnkrok took a turnover and skated into position to beat Raanta with a blast, making it three goals in a stretch of just more than five minutes for the teams combined.

Teravainen pulled Carolina even with 2:38 to play in the second period. He was appearing in his 500th NHL game.

That gave the Hurricanes a game with multiple power-play goals for the first time in their last eight outings.

Raanta was in consecutive games for just the third time this season. Frederik Andersen, who entered March with a league-leading 29 wins, was scratched because of a minor injury. Alex Lyon was called up from the American Hockey League and served as Carolina's backup.
