Ryan Anderson had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead New Orleans, which has lost four straight and 13 of 15.
The Wizards trailed by as many as 13 and didn't take their first lead until Crawford's driving layup put them ahead 63-62 with 9:11 left in the game. Crawford's 3-pointer with 5:09 left put Washington ahead for good.
Hornets rookie Anthony Davis added 13 points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes in his return from an ankle injury that had sidelined him since Nov. 17.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Crawford was forced into the starting lineup with point guards John Wall (knee) and A.J. Price (broken hand) out along with forwards Trevor Ariza (calf) and Trevor Booker (knee). … Washington's 11 points in the first quarter were the lowest total New Orleans has allowed in a quarter this season. … Anderson, who entered the night with an NBA-best 64 made 3-pointers, was just 3-of-12 from beyond the arc.
