Diamondbacks 10, Cardinals 3: Willie Bloomquist scored on an error in the sixth inning to snap a tie and Paul Goldschmidt highlighted a five-run seventh with his second grand slam in five days as visiting Arizona posted its fourth win in five games.
St. Louis left fielder Matt Holliday botched a two-out fly ball by Jason Kubel, allowing Bloomquist to score from first to give the Diamondbacks a 2-1 lead. Arizona broke open the game an inning later as Wil Nieves hit an RBI single before Goldschmidt drilled a 2-2 offering from Maikel Cleto over the center-field wall to make it 7-1.
Goldschmidt, who delivered an RBI single in the 14th inning of Tuesday's victory, also belted a grand slam in a 12-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
Gerardo Parra added a two-run single in a three-run eighth for Arizona, which improved to 4-3 on its eight-game road trip. Wade Miley (4-5) allowed three runs and 11 hits over 6 2/3 innings to snap his personal four-game losing streak.
Matt Carpenter collected four hits and Carlos Beltran had a two-run single for the Cardinals, who have lost consecutive games for the first time since dropping three in a row from April 27-29. Joe Kelly (0-3) took the loss in his first start of the season despite yielding only two runs (one earned) and four hits in 5 2/3 frames.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cardinals 3B David Freese extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the sixth inning, while 2B Carpenter made it 14 straight contests with a hit by smacking a double in the third. ... Arizona has outscored its opponents 37-17 in its last four victories. ... Bloomquist continued his torrid pace by going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Since returning from an oblique strain that sidelined him for the first two months of the campaign, Bloomquist has gone 11-for-18 in four contests.
