Juwan Gary scored 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting, including 4-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc, to lead Nebraska to a 73-55 win over Minnesota in a Big Ten Conference matchup on Sunday evening in Lincoln, Neb.
Brice Williams scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Nebraska (20-8, 10-7 Big Ten), which won its fourth game in a row. Jamarques Lawrence added 11 points off the bench for the Cornhuskers as they reached the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
Cam Christie scored 14 points to lead Minnesota (17-10, 8-8). Dawson Garcia finished with 10 points to go along with eight rebounds.
Nebraska shot 39.3 percent (24 of 61) overall and 32.1 percent (9 of 28) from 3-point range. Minnesota shot 31.0 percent (18 of 58) from the field and 26.1 percent (6 of 23) from deep.
The Cornhuskers opened the second half on a 15-6 run. Gary finished the run by making a 3-pointer off an assist from Williams, which made it 43-26 with 15:45 remaining.
Gary struck again from beyond the arc to put Nebraska on top by 20 points with 13:28 to play. Lawrence provided the assist on Gary's shot that push the Cornhuskers' lead to 50-30.
The Golden Gophers struggled to make much of an indent into Nebraska's lead.
Minnesota scored six straight points on a 3-pointer by Mike Mitchell Jr. and a three-point play by Christie to trim the deficit to 59-44 with 8:25 left.
Barely three minutes later, the Cornhuskers were back on top by 20 again. Lawrence made a 3-pointer to make it 68-48 with 5:18 to go.
Nebraska led 28-20 at the half.
Minnesota inched to a 9-7 lead with 12:35 remaining in the first half. Parker Fox made a jumper to put the Golden Gophers ahead by two, but it proved to be their final lead.
The Cornhuskers went on an 8-0 run to pull ahead 26-14 with 3:47 remaining before the break.
