Keion Brooks Jr. scored a team-high 22 points and Washington survived a late scare for a 69-66 overtime victory over visiting Arizona State on Thursday in Seattle.
Noah Williams gave Washington the lead for good in overtime with an early jumper. He finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies (13-9, 5-6 Pac-12), who won for the fourth time in their past five games.
Desmond Cambridge Jr. put up a season-high 26 points for the Sun Devils (15-6, 6-4). Arizona State's Austin Nunez forced the extra period by sinking three clutch free throws with six-tenths of a second left in regulation.
With Williams scoring seven points, the Huskies built as much as a six-point lead in overtime, but the margin was just 69-66 when Arizona State got possession with 10 seconds left.
Frankie Collins had a chance to tie with four seconds to go but misfired on a 3-point attempt, and the rebound went out of bounds with nine-tenths of a second left.
Arizona State couldn't get off another shot after its inbounds pass.
The Huskies appeared to have the game in hand in the final seconds of regulation with a 54-51 lead, but a missed free throw by Brooks opened the door for Nunez, who was fouled on a 3-point attempt.
Seeking to avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season, the Sun Devils came out with a stifling defense that kept the hosts off the scoreboard for the game's first 5:41. Meanwhile, Cambridge and DJ Horne each nailed a 3-pointer in a 12-point flurry that put Washington in an immediate double-digit deficit.
However, the Huskies used 17-4 and 12-0 flurries to catch and overtake the visitors, eventually building a 43-33 lead before the Sun Devils rallied.
In a game in which neither team shot well, Brooks managed to drain eight of his 23 shots.
Washington's Cole Bajema added 11 points and Keyon Menifield had 10, while Brandon Meah led all rebounders with 11. Menifield also had a team-high five assists and three steals.
Cambridge shot 10-for-24 en route to his 26 points. His teammates combined for just 13 field goals in 51 attempts (25.5 percent).
Collins had a game-high six assists to go with 15 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Sun Devils.
