Carrick Felix scored 22 points and Trent Lockett added 19 as shorthanded Arizona State snapped a four-game losing streak with a 62-53 win over host Southern California on Thursday.
Arizona State (5-9, 1-1 Pac-12) was playing with only six scholarship players after coach Herb Sendek suspended top scorer Keala King, starter Kyle Cain and reserve Chris Colvin prior to the game.
All three were suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, and they’ve also been ruled out for Saturday’s game at UCLA. Their status will be revisited next week.
Aaron Fuller had 14 points and Maurice Jones scored 13 for Southern Cal (5-11, 0-3), which lost its fourth straight game. Dewayne Dedmon added a team-high nine rebounds.
The Trojans, who entered the game averaging a conference-worst 54.5 points, shot just 21-of-55 (38.2 percent) against the Sun Devils, including 3-of-11 from 3-point range.
Southern Cal pulled within one point midway through the second half, but Arizona State answered with six straight points and led by 11 with 4:44 to go.
Playing without its starting point guard, Arizona State committed 18 turnovers but shot 22-of-36 (61.1 percent) from the field.
