Kyle Kuric scored 17 points and Gorgui Dieng collected 14 points and 13 rebounds as No. 4 Louisville escaped visiting College of Charleston 69-62 on Tuesday.
Chane Behanan added 12 points and eight boards for the Cardinals (11-0), who won their 19th straight game at the KFC Yum! Center and remained one of six unbeaten teams in Division I.
College of Charleston led 37-33 at the break and kept the edge for much of the second half, going up 52-47 when Matt Sundberg hit a 3-pointer with 12:58 left. But the Cougars went five minutes without another point as Louisville crept back into the game.
Behanan’s dunk with 8:27 remaining gave the Cardinals their first lead of the second half and it went back and forth for the next five minutes.
Kuric’s jumper put Louisville on top for good 60-59 at the 3:16 mark. Kuric started a fast break with a rebound at the other end, leading to Russ Smith’s 3-pointer in transition.
Chris Smith knocked down another from beyond the arc on the Cardinals’ next chance to stretch it out to 66-59 and they sealed it at the free throw line.
Antwaine Wiggins led the Cougars (9-2) with 23 points.
