Darnell Dodson scored 17 points as visiting Southern Mississippi overcame a poor first half to hold off Arizona State 64-61 on Monday.
LaShay Page added 14 points for the Golden Eagles (9-2), who won their fifth straight game.
For the second straight game, the Sun Devils (4-7) lost despite another solid shooting effort. In their heartbreaking one-point loss to Northern Arizona on Saturday, they shot 56.3 percent from the field but lost at the buzzer.
Arizona State shot 48.8 percent Monday.
Southern Mississippi struggled early and trailed by 10 points late in the first half en route to a season-low 21 points in the first half.
However, the Golden Eagles remained within striking distance due in part to 18 offensive rebounds until they found their range after the break.
They finally took their first lead of the game with 8:15 remaining on a layup by Neil Watson, contributing to an 11-2 run that gave Southern Miss a 47-40 advantage.
The Golden Eagles stretched the lead to 11 points moments later and held off a late charge by Arizona State for the win.
Keala King finished with 16 points to pace the Sun Devils, who have dropped three of their last four contests.
