William Buford scored a season-high 23 points to pace five players in double figures as No. 3 Ohio State ran past the Virginia Military Institute, 107-74, in Columbus.
The Buckeyes (5-0) made eight consecutive shots, all layups, at one point during the first half and used an 18-2 burst to jump out to a 30-13 lead with 12:27 left in the opening period. Ohio State made 16 of its first 19 field-goal attempts and had 12 assists in the game's first nine minutes.
After staying within range for much of the first half, the Keydets (3-2) ran out of gas after the intermission, hitting just 32 percent of their second-half shots. Ohio State opened the final period with a 22-4 run, extending the margin to 30 points.
Jared Sullinger added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Buckeyes, who finished with a 47-24 rebounding advantage. Aaron Craft finished with 13 points and eight assists.
Keith Gabriel and Ron Burks scored 21 and 19 points, respectively, to lead VMI.
