A rare miss from the foul line by Keiton Page gave Nebraska a chance to win on the final possession, but Cornhuskers star Lance Jeter lost the handle as he drove the lane in the final seconds, and Oklahoma State held on for a 53-52 win in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament at Sprint Center.

Page, a 90 percent free-throw shooter, missed the front end of a one-and-one to give Nebraska a shot at a win that would have kept its slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive. But Jeter, who scored a game-high 17 points, lost his footing and the ball as he drove into the paint, and the Cornhuskers (19-12, 7-9 Big 12) were unable to complete their comeback from a 14-point first-half deficit.

The Cowboys (19-12, 6-10 Big 12) started the game on a 9-2 run and led by as many as 14 in the first half, but Nebraska cut the margin to 30-21 by halftime. The Cornhuskers took their first lead at 39-38 with 11:22 left on Brandon Ubel's 3-pointer, and they pulled ahead by as many as four.

But Page hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Cowboys a 50-48 lead with 3:52 left, and they didn't trail again.

Page scored 16 points, and Marshall Moses added 10 for Oklahoma State, which advances to face top-seed Kansas in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Toney McCray and Ubel added 11 apiece for Nebraska.
