Derrick Williams returned to his old form with 15 points and 12 rebounds as No. 18 Arizona snapped a two-game losing streak Thursday night with a 70-59 win over visiting Oregon State.
Lamont Jones added a game-high 17 points and was one of four players who scored in double figures for Arizona (24-6, 13-4 Pac-10), which avenged a January loss to the Beavers (10-18, 5-12 Pac-10) and kept its hope alive for a Pac-10 regular season title with the win. Devon Collier scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Oregon State, which has lost six of its last seven games.
Williams struggled in losses to Southern Cal and UCLA, but was dominating in the lane for Arizona. The Wildcats grabbed a 24-14 lead midway through the first half with an 11-1 run punctuated by a Kyle Fogg 3-pointer. The Wildcats maintained the pressure all game, forcing Oregon State into committing 20 turnovers.
The Wildcats can clinch at least a share of the Pac-10 regular season title with a win over Oregon on Saturday.
