Virginia led 38-23 midway through the second half, but the Tigers came all the way back to tie the game in the final minute. However, Farrakhan scored six points down the stretch to seal the contest.
Clemson missed its first eight shots and trailed 14-1 to start the game. Sammy Zeglinski had 12 of the Cavaliers’ first 14 points, hitting his first four shots from the 3-point line.
Virginia (12-10, 3-5 ACC) was 7 for 12 from 3-point range in the first half and took a commanding 29-13 lead into the half. The Tigers were 0 for 8 from long range and shot just 27 percent overall in the first half.
But the Tigers battled back and Andre Young, who led Clemson with 13 points, tied the game at 42 on a pair of free throws with 49 seconds left. Farrakhan followed with a layup on the next possession and then made a pair of free throws to give Virginia a 46-42 lead with 24 seconds left.
Devin Booker’s jumper trimmed the deficit to 46-44 with 14 seconds left, but Farrakhan drained two more free throws three seconds later. Virginia got to within one on a 3-pointer with two seconds left, but Assane Sene split two free throws, and Clemson could not get a shot off.
Clemson (15-7, 4-4 ACC) is 4-0 at home in the conference but 0-4 on the road.
