E’Twaun Moore scored 26 points and JaJuan Johnson added 20 as host No. 13 Purdue got the better of No. 18 Michigan State 86-76 on Saturday.
Lewis Jackson chipped in 19 points for the Boilermakers (17-3, 6-1 Big Ten), who get their shot at first place in the Big Ten when they visit No. 1 Ohio State on Tuesday.
Purdue took control over the last six minutes of the opening half when it closed with a 15-5 run to turn a tie game into a 41-31 edge at the break. Jackson scored the first six points of the spurt and Moore did the majority of his damage in the first 20 minutes with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting as the Boilermakers shot 62 percent.
The Spartans fell behind by as many as 14 points early in the second before rallying to pull within 61-55 on Draymond Green's 3-pointer with 10 minutes left.
But Purdue turned a turnover into a layup and then grabbed a defensive rebound and found Kelsey Barlow, who streaked down the right side and dunked one-handed to push it back to double digits.
The Spartans (12-7, 4-3) could not recover, and are three games behind Ohio State in the Big Ten after dropping two straight this week. Green finished with 21 points.
