Bernard James led the way with 16 points on 8-of-8 shooting and added seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks as Florida State blasted North Carolina State 84-71 on Saturday.
Michael Snaer added 13 points and Terrance Shannon chipped in 12 points and nine boards for the Seminoles (13-5, 3-1 ACC), who have put together back-to-back impressive victories after dropping a 71-59 decision at Virginia Tech last weekend.
Trying to avoid a letdown after taking out No. 1 Duke on Wednesday, Florida State came out with a strong defensive effort against the Wolfpack (11-6, 1-2), holding them to 27 percent from the floor while forcing 10 turnovers in the first half. A 12-3 burst to end the period sent the Seminoles into the locker room with a 28-19 edge.
Florida State broke out the offense in the second half, extending the lead to as much as 79-57 when Kitchen hit a pair of free throws with 3:08 remaining.
The Seminoles are now in second place in the ACC, one-half game behind Boston College. A date at Miami looms this week, with Boston College scheduled to visit Tallahassee next Saturday.
