John Flowers poured in a game-high 24 points as West Virginia breezed to a 93-63 home victory over Providence on Thursday night.
Flowers put together his most complete game of the season for the Mountaineers (11-4, 3-2 Big East), who fashioned a 46-20 lead and cruised through the second half en route to their third consecutive victory. The 6-foot-7 senior, who came in averaging just 7.6 points per game, shot 10-for-12 from the field while adding six rebounds, four assists, three steals and five blocked shots.
Kevin Jones added 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Casey Mitchell and Deniz Kilicli had 14 points apiece. Darryl Bryant chipped in with 12 for West Virginia, which shot shot 47.9 percent for the game while limiting the Friars (11-7, 0-5 Big East) to just 31.2 percent.
Marshon Brooks had 13 points to lead Providence, while Vincent Council added 11. The trio of Brooks, Council and Gerard Coleman combined to make just 12 of 46 shots in the game.
Ray Hall added nine points and nine rebounds in defeat.
