David Loubeau scored 18 points and Khris Middleton added 17 to lead No.
16 Texas A&M to its 10th straight win, 66-55 over Nicholls State on
Monday night in College Station, Texas.
Texas A&M (13-1) started slowly and trailed 11-3 before it scored
its first basket 6:39 into the game. The Aggies took the lead 23-22 on a
three-point play by Nathan Walkup with 8:09 remaining in the first half
as the Aggies used that to start a 7-0 run to take the lead for good.
Texas A&M led 35-31 at halftime.
Nicholls State (6-5) drew to within 48-45 with 13:12 left, but Texas
A&M used a 14-5 run over the next 7:35 to extend its lead to 62-50,
and remain perfect at home this season in nine games.
B.J. Holmes added 13 points for Texas A&M, which shot 50 percent
from the field and used its size to control the boards, 31-18 against a
short Nicholls State lineup that had just one player taller than 6 feet
5.
Anatoly Bose, the nation’s third leading scorer at 25 points per game,
was shut down by the Aggies' tenacious defense. Bose finished with a
season-low six points on 1-of-12 shooting from the field. and missed his
first nine shots.
Fred Hunter paced the visiting Colonels with 17 points.
