Joevan Catron had 20 points and seven rebounds Monday and Oregon won its third straight game, 74-56, over visiting Jacksonville State of the Ohio Valley Conference.
E.J. Singler had seven rebounds and scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half, giving Oregon a 39-27 halftime lead. Garrett Sim added 10 points for the Ducks (7-3), who shot 29-of-51 (56.9 percent) from the field.
Still searching for its first road win of the season, Jacksonville State (2-8) was led by Nick Murphy’s 14 points. Stephen Hall scored nine points for the Gamecocks, who made just 3-of-14 (21.4 percent) of their 3-pointers.
Oregon senior guard Jay-R Strowbridge, who played 12 games for Jacksonville State last season before leaving in January for personal reasons, scored nine points against his former team.
Jacksonville State has lost eight of its last nine games and left after the Oregon game to fly across the country to play Wednesday at Presbyterian (S.C.). Monday’s game marked the Gamecocks’ first game against a team from the Pac-10.
