Logan Gilbert pitched eight scoreless innings as the Seattle Mariners defeated the host Miami Marlins 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Gilbert (5-4), a Florida native, allowed four hits and one walk, striking out six batters. He lowered his ERA from 2.93 to 2.71.

Seattle, which halted its three-game losing skid, was led on offense by Dominic Canzone, who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs. He hit a solo homer and an RBI single.

Miami, which is in last place in the National League East, had its three-game win streak snapped. It was one short of matching Miami's longest winning streak this season.

Veteran Shaun Anderson (0-2), making just his second Marlins appearance, allowed six runs (five earned) and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The Mariners got to Anderson right away as their first three batters reached base. J.P. Crawford and Josh Rojas singled and Ty France was hit by a pitch to set up the rally. Crawford scored on a wild pitch, and Rojas came home on Cal Raleigh's sacrifice fly.

Seattle's Luke Raley started the fourth inning by grounding a triple down the first-base line, and it started a four-run rally. After Canzone followed with an RBI single, Dylan Moore doubled to put runners on second and third. Ryan Bliss hit an RBI single, and two more runs scored when Crawford hit into a fielder's choice combined with an error by Marlins first baseman Josh Bell.

Canzone made it 7-0 in the fifth inning when he pulled his homer 415 feet to right. It was his seventh blast of the season.

Miami threatened in the seventh as Bryan De La Cruz reached on third baseman Rojas' two-base throwing error. De La Cruz advanced on Josh Bell's groundout, reaching third with one out. After a walk, Tim Anderson struck out, and Otto Lopez flew out to end the inning.

Seattle poured it on in the eighth as Moore and Bliss hit RBI doubles.

The Marlins, looking to save their bullpen, used infielder Emmanuel Rivera to pitch the top of the ninth, and he worked a scoreless inning, allowing two hits. It was his third pitching appearance in the majors, and he lowered his ERA from 18.00 to 12.00.
