Georgia 54, East Tennessee State 38: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 13 points and Donte’ Williams 12 as the host Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak.
Georgia (2-4) led 31-13 after a half in which they held the Buccaneers to 17.4 percent shooting (4-of-23). Georgia came out on fire, hitting 14 of 21 shots before halftime.
Freshman forward Lester Wilson led the way with 12 points for ETSU (1-3), but he committed a team-high four turnovers. Wilson came in averaging 19.3 points.
Caldwell-Pope, a 6-5 sophomore who leads Georgia in scoring, rebounding, steals and minutes, shot 5-of-9 overall, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. He added seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. Georgia finished 24-of-38 from the field, a sizzling 63.2 percent.
The Buccaneers shot 28 percent for the game (14-of-50).
GAME NOTEBOOK: Caldwell-Pope has led Georgia in scoring in every game. … Georgia improved to 2-2 all-time against ETSU and 7-2 against current members of the Atlantic Sun. This was the second of three Georgia games this season against A-Sun teams (2-0). … Georgia is off until next Friday’s game in Tampa against South Florida in the SEC/Big East Challenge.
