Garrett Sim scored 20 points and E.J. Singler hit two tiebreaking free throws with 43 seconds left as Oregon held on for an 83-76 victory over host Nebraska on Wednesday.
Singler scored 14 points and Olu Ashaolu added 12 as the Ducks (3-1) won their third consecutive game despite blowing a 15-point second-half lead.
Jorge Brian Diaz scored 21 points, Dylan Talley had 18 points and Brandon Ubel tallied 15 for Nebraska (3-1).
The Cornhuskers outscored Oregon 22-7 over a seven-minute stretch to tie the score at 75 on Bo Spencer’s basket with 2:04 to play.
Singler, Sim and Tyrone Nared each hit two free throws in a 29-second span as the Ducks thwarted Nebraska’s charge.
Sim capped a 15-2 first-half run with a 3-pointer as the Ducks turned a seven-point deficit into a 27-21 lead. Later in the half, Sim scored the final two points of a 14-2 spurt as Oregon took a seven-point lead en route to a 47-43 halftime advantage.
The Ducks increased their lead to 68-53 on Nared’s 3-point basket with 12:43 remaining before Nebraska launched its comeback.
Talley had four 3-point baskets for the Cornhuskers.
