Northwestern scored the game's first 20 points and rolled to a 70-47 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday. Northwestern (9-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season against St. John's on Tuesday and led from start to finish for the easy home victory.
The Mountaineers were no match for the Wildcats, who scored 15 seconds into the game on two free throws by John Shurna and began their domination.Luka Mirkovic scored eight points during the run. Drew Crawford added four points while Alex Marcotullio and Davide Curletti hit 3-pointers. Curletti's basket at the 12:38 mark made the score 20-0.
Mount St. Mary's finally scored on Julian Norfleet's three-point with 10:41 left in the half. Northwestern led 39-16 at halftime. Crawford led the Wildcats with 16 points while Mirkovic added 15. Shurna scored 13 points and Curletti has 11.
Norfleet led Mount St. Mary's (3-9) with 19 points.
