After a rough start to the season, Wake Forest picked up a much-needed 89-70 win over Elon on Saturday night.
Despite a slow start, the Demon Deacons (2-2) went into the halftime break with the 37-28 lead and never looked back.
Freshman standout Travis McKie had another impressive night as he led Wake Forest with 22 points and 15 rebounds. This is the fourth consecutive game in which he has scored in double digits.
Gary Clark and Ari Stewart added 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the Demon Deacons, who were stellar from the free-throw line, shooting 13 of 15 for a hearty 87 percent.
Senior guard Chris Long put up 17 points for the Phoenix (1-2).
Wake Forest will continue play in the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament as it hosts Winthrop in the consolidation round Monday.
The Phoenix will head home Monday to for a matchup against Hampden-Sydney.
