No. 17 Washington beat McNeese State 118-64, Saturday at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle.
The Huskies (1-0) led 61-19 at halftime and was never challenged.
McNeese State (0-1) had very little to combat a Washington offense that returns four starters from last year’s Sweet 16 team and 63.6 percent of its scoring.
McNeese State’s Patrick Richard opened the game with a 3-pointer that gave the Cowboys a 3-0 lead. Washington’s Matt Bryan-Amaning provided a dunk to give the Huskies a 4-3 lead. They went on a 49-6 run. Washington had 53 points, before McNeese State reached double digits.
In all, 10 different players scored for the Huskies, seven in double digits. Bryan-Amaning led with 28.
Richard led the Cowboys with 18 points.
