Five players scored in double digits as Baylor blasted Grambling State 87-52 Friday in Waco, Texas.
The Bears were playing without leading returning scorer LaceDarius Dunn, who is suspended for the first three games of the season for officially a "violation of team rules." Dunn is accused of breaking a woman's jaw during a domestic dispute in the offseason. The alleged victim dropped the charges, but the case is still under investigation.
Quincy Acy took Dunn's place as the Bears' leading scorer. Acy finished with 20 points to lead Baylor's balanced attack. Anthony Jones had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Fred Ellis added 14 points for the Bears.
Grambling (1-0) trailed by 16 at halftime and couldn't stop the Bears from pulling away in the second half. Grambling was led by Brandon Wilson's 18 points.
