Maryland managed to avoid the upset bug that has plagued a lot of other highly ranked teams at November tournaments.
Anthony Cowan scored 20 points to lead No. 5 Maryland to an 80-73 win over Harvard in the semifinals of the Orlando Invitational on Friday.
The Terrapins (7-0) will oppose Marquette in the championship game on Sunday. The Crimson (5-3) will meet the Trojans in the third-place game.
Harvard's Bryce Aiken led all scorers with 30 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field.
The Crimson led for a good portion of the game, but Maryland started to surge after trailing 47-40 with 14:15 remaining.
Trailing 53-49, the Terrapins went on a 7-0 run to take a 56-53 lead with 9:30 left and later used a 7-1 run to go ahead 65-59 with 4:47 remaining.
Maryland took its biggest lead of the game at 74-64 with 1:47 remaining on a 3-pointer by Cowan that all but put the game away.
Harvard couldn't pull any closer than six points the rest of the way.
Four other players scored in double figures for Maryland.
Jalen Smith had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Maryland, while Aaron Wiggins, Eric Ayala and Darryl Morsell each had 13 points.
Morsell also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Maryland shot just 40 percent from the floor and 7-for-20 from 3-point range but dominated the boards by outrebounding Harvard 44-29.
The Terrapins also overcame 16 turnovers they committed.
Noah Kirkwood scored 12 points and Chris Lewis added 11 to flank Aiken for Harvard, which shot 44.3 percent from the field and 8 of 26 from 3-point range.
Harvard got off to a good start, taking a 29-19 lead with 4:02 remaining in the first half.
But Maryland finished the first half strong, cutting Harvard's advantage to 35-31 heading into halftime.
