No. 23 SMU 77, Eastern Washington 68: Nic Moore had 22 points and six assists to fuel the host Mustangs past the Eagles.
Moore, who had shot just 37 percent in the first three games for SMU (2-2), made 6-of-12 shots, including two 3-pointers, and knocked down all eight of his free throws to help the Mustangs rebound from back-to-back losses. Keith Frazier scored a career-high 17 points and Yanick Moreira notched 13 points for SMU.
Tyler Harvey scored 24 points to pace the Eagles (3-1). Venky Jois chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds and Parker Kelly added 12 points for Eastern Washington.
Moore and Frazier each knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the first half as SMU led 43-35 at intermission. The Mustangs shot 53.1 percent in the opening 20 minutes and knocked down 5-of-11 from behind the arc before those shooting percentages dipped after the break.
SMU scored 16 of the first 20 points of the second half and led comfortably throughout most of the period. Harvey's 3-pointer capped a late surge by Eastern Washington, making it 71-66 with 1 1/2 minutes left, but Moore made 4-of-4 foul shots to stem the tide.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Eastern Washington was aiming for its first 4-0 start since 1985-86. ... Mustangs F Ben Moore, who led the team in scoring in each of the first three games, was limited to four points and seven rebounds. ... The Eagles shot just 7-of-15 from the free-throw line.
