Robbie Hummel led three players in double figures with 17 points as Purdue took a double-digit lead in the first half and held on for a 76-65 victory over visiting Miami (Fla.) in the Big Ten/ACC challenge on Tuesday.
Lewis Jackson scored 15 points and Terone Johnson 13 for the Boilermakers (7-1), who were playing their sixth game in 12 days.
Freshman Shane Larkin made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points - all in the second half - for Miami (4-2), which crept within 55-50 with just under 10 minutes left. Purdue responded with a 10-4 run to give itself breathing room.
Malcolm Grant also had 16 points for Miami.
Miami stayed in striking distance for most of the first half, despite shooting less than 28 percent from the field. Grant scored eight points in the first 20 minutes to keep the Hurricanes within six before Purdue reeled off the final six points of the half for a 37-25 lead.
Hummel had nine points to lead the Boilermakers, who made 14-of-26 from the field in the first half.
Purdue has won 22 straight games at home.
