MAVERICKS 112, WARRIORS 103: Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and visiting Dallas held off Golden State to open its stretch of four games in five nights with a victory.
The Mavericks (33-26), who continue their four-game trip Friday in Portland, moved into sole possession of sixth place in the West, a half-game ahead of idle Houston and Denver.
Jason Kidd just missed a triple-double for Dallas with 12 assists, 10 rebounds and nine points.
Brandan Wright had 16 points and nine rebounds for Dallas, 18-1 when scoring at least 100 points.
Jason Terry had 16 points, Vince Carter 12 and Rodrigue Beaubois 11 as Dallas’ bench outscored the Warriors reserves 57-33.
Golden State’s Klay Thompson had 24 points, eight assists and seven rebounds and David Lee had 30 points and eight rebounds.
Nate Robinson had 10 for the Warriors, who have missed the postseason 17 of the last 18 seasons.
The last time the Warriors hosted the Mavericks on March 10, they rolled to a 111-87 victory, their most lopsided win of the season. But that was when Dallas was finishing three games in three nights and Monta Ellis was still the heart of the Warriors.
The Mavericks led 63-49 at halftime as Nowitzki had 13, Wright 12 and Beaubois 11. Golden State missed six of seven 3-pointers in the first half.
Robinson got the Warriors to 91-88 but the Mavericks scored eight straight points, including 3-pointers by Terry and Vince Carter for a 99-88 lead with 7:39 to go. The Warriors never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: According to reports, inactive Dallas forward Lamar Odom was seen leaving Dallas-Fort Worth Airport wearing a Lakers jersey and his Lakers championship ring. … The Mavericks have won 12 of the last 17 regular-season meetings between the teams. ... Dallas committed its first turnover with 5:13 remaining in the first half on Beaubois’ charging foul.
