Derek Carr threw for 382 yards and two touchdowns Sunday as the Las Vegas Raiders topped the Steelers in Pittsburgh, 26-17.
Carr hit on 28 of 37 passes, including a pair of huge completions in the fourth quarter, as the Raiders improved to 2-0.
After teaming with speedy receiver Henry Ruggs for a 61-yard scoring strike with 9:35 remaining to Las Vegas a 23-14 lead, Carr found Darren Waller for 25 yards and a first down with three minutes on the clock.
That helped the Raiders run the clock down to 20 seconds, and Daniel Carlson connected on a 45-yard field goal, his fourth of the game, to ice the outcome.
Ben Roethlisberger completed 27 of 40 passes for 295 yards with a touchdown pass -- to rookie running back Najee Harris -- and an interception for Pittsburgh (1-1). Kicker Chris Boswell pulled the Steelers within 23-17 with 3:42 left in the game when he boomed a 56-yard field goal, the longest in the 20-year history of Heinz Field.
Ruggs caught five passes for 113 yards for Las Vegas, while Dionte Johnson grabbed nine passes for 105 yards for Pittsburgh.
Las Vegas initiated the scoring with a pair of Carlson field goals. He connected from 46 yards out with 3:10 left in the first quarter, then hit from 33 at the 9:34 mark of the second quarter after penalties stopped a potential touchdown drive.
Pittsburgh took its only lead with 6:25 remaining in the first half when JuJu Smith-Schuster scored the first rushing touchdown of his career on a 3-yard run. But the Raiders regained the advantage for good when Carlson converted a 41-yarder two seconds before halftime.
Las Vegas made it 16-7 with 5:02 left in the third quarter when Carr lobbed a 9-yard scoring strike to Foster Moreau, capping an 82-yard drive that lasted 4:09.
The Steelers answered back with 11:15 remaining in the game as Roethlisberger and Harris hooked up for a 25-yard score.
