Bears 40, Steelers 23: Matt Forte rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown as visiting Chicago withstood a second-half comeback attempt to remain undefeated.
Major Wright and Julius Peppers scored defensive touchdowns, Michael Bush had a 1-yard scoring run and Earl Bennett hauled in a 17-yard TD pass for the Bears, who stormed out to a 24-3 lead before allowing 20 of the next 23 points. Jay Cutler completed 20-of-30 passes for 159 yards as Chicago (3-0) remained one of seven unbeaten teams in the league.
Ben Roethlisberger was 26-of-41 for 406 yards and Antonio Brown made nine catches for 196 yards and two scores for Pittsburgh (0-3), which has lost its first three games for the first time since 2000. The Steelers still were unable to establish a running game, gaining only 80 yards on the ground after totaling 75 in their first two contests.
Forte and Bush had short scoring runs after Robbie Gould opened the scoring with a 47-yard field goal as the Bears held a 17-0 lead after one quarter. After Shaun Suisham got Pittsburgh on the board with a 27-yard kick, Wright intercepted Roethlisberger and scampered 38 yards for a 24-3 advantage with 8:57 remaining in the second quarter.
Roethlisberger and Brown teamed up for 33- and 21-yard touchdown passes and Suisham hit a pair of field goals as the Steelers closed the gap to 27-23. But Cutler found Bennett in the right corner of the end zone with 5:48 left in the fourth and Peppers returned a fumble by Roethlisberger 42 yards for a score less than two minutes later to seal the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Steelers went on a scoring bonanza after totaling only 19 points over their first two contests. ... Chicago has opened a season 3-0 for the first time since 2010, when it went on to play in the NFC Championship Game. ... Cutler was sacked twice after hitting the ground only once over his first two contests. ... Steelers WR Jerricho Cotchery made three catches for 52 yards, giving him 401 career receptions.
