Ryan Fitzpatrick found wide receiver David Nelson all alone in the end zone with 14 seconds left to rally the Buffalo Bills to a thrilling 38-35 win over Oakland at Ralph Wilson Stadium Sunday.
Bills running back Fred Jackson rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns and Buffalo converted two first downs on the winning drive to move to 2-0 for the first time since 2008, when it started 5-1.
Buffalo scored on every possession in the fourth quarter and erased a 21-3 halftime deficit. The teams traded blows in the second half, combining for 49 total points as the lead changed hands five times in the fourth quarter alone.
Oakland running back Darren McFadden had 72 rushing yards and a touchdown and added seven receptions for 71 yards and another score.
Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who passed for four touchdowns last Sunday, posted 264 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Stevie Johnson caught eight balls for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell found rookie wide receiver Denarius Moore for a 50-yard score sandwiched between two defenders to put Oakland ahead with just under four minutes remaining.
Campbell finished with 323 yards passing and two touchdowns while Moore had 146 yards receiving and one TD.
Jackson’s 1-yard run in the opening minute of the fourth quarter gave
the Bills their first lead at 24-21. He passed Cookie Gilchrist (3,056
yards) for the No. 7 spot among Bills’ all-time rushing leaders. Thurman
Thomas tops the list with 11,938 yards.
