Kyle Filipowski's 17 points and 14 rebounds carried host Duke past No. 17 Miami for a 68-66 victory Saturday afternoon at Durham, N.C.

Jeremy Roach returned from an injury and scored 14 points, Tyrese Proctor added 11 points and Dariq Whitehead had 10 points for the Blue Devils, who clinched the outcome when Miami's final heave was off the mark.

Duke (14-5, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), which played for the first time this season without a national ranking, improved to 10-0 in home games. The Blue Devils had been off for a week since a loss at Clemson.

Jordan Miller's 19 points and eight rebounds and Nijel Pack's 16 points led Miami (15-4, 6-3), which lost for the third time in its last five games.

Miami went four minutes without scoring as Duke took a 55-47 lead. But with the Blue Devils missing five consecutive shots from the field, Miami closed to within 59-54, causing a Duke timeout at the 8:14 mark.

With both teams going through a stretch of ragged offense, the Hurricanes closed within 64-60. A three-point play by Norchad Omier (nine points, 14 rebounds) tightened the score.

Filipowski hit two free throws with 2:04 to play. Omier then made one of two free-throw attempts on Miami's next possession.

Trailing 66-64, the Hurricanes missed three shots on one possession, including a would-be go-ahead 3-pointer.

Filipowski went to the foul line and converted both ends of a 1-and-1 with 18.2 seconds to play.

The score was tied 38-38 at halftime, with Miami hitting five of nine 3-point attempts and boosted by Pack's 14 points.

Duke used a 12-5 stretch beginning with about 11 minutes to go in the first half to go up 29-24.

Duke made 12 of its first 17 shots from the field before going 3-for-14 the rest of the half.

The Blue Devils went 3-for-7 on first-half free throws.

Roach, who missed the previous three games with a toe injury, was back, though he came off the bench for the first time this season. Also, Duke guard Jaylen Blakes wore a black mask to protect a broken nose suffered in practice this week.
