Senior guard Kevin Punter powered Tennessee past Gardner-Webb 89-64 in the Barclays Center Classic on Sunday.
Punter had 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Volunteers senior guard Devon Baulkman added 22 for Tennessee, which blew open what was a four-point game at the half (41-37). The Vols' backcourt tandem combined for 11 3-pointers in the game.
Harold McBride had 17 points for Gardner Webb.
Armani Moore was a big presence for Tennessee. He had 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Tennessee hosts Army on Tuesday and shifts to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., later in the week.
