Miami (Fla.) 77, Florida State 73: Sophomore center Tonye Jekiri came off the bench to score 15 points, grab six rebounds and block two shots as the visiting Hurricanes gained a split of the season series with their in-state rivals.

Donnavan Kirk led Miami (12-12, 3-8 ACC) with 16 points, Rion Brown added 14 and Garrius Adams poured in 12. The Hurricanes, who made 14 more free throws than the Seminoles, have won three of the last four meetings.

Devon Bookert had 17 points and five assists to lead Florida State (14-10, 5-7), which lost for the fifth time in its last six games. Aaron Thomas finished with 16 points, Okaro White had 14 points and seven rebounds and Ian Miller added 13 points for the Seminoles.

Kirk, who had 21 points in a 63-53 loss to Florida State in the first meeting Jan. 15 in Miami, had 11 in the first half on 4-of-4 shooting, including a 3-pointer. The Hurricanes led by as many as 12 points at 28-16, but Miller scored eight points in a three-minute span to cut the deficit to five before Adams sank a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to send Miami in with a 34-26 halftime lead.

The Hurricanes quickly extended their lead to 13 with five straight points to start the second half but managed just one field goal over a 10 1/2-minute stretch as the Seminoles closed to within 45-42 on a three-point play by Boris Bojanovsky with 8:28 to go. But Miami used an 11-5 run highlighted by another 3-pointer by Adams to boost its lead to 56-47 with a little over five minutes remaining and Florida State never got any closer than four points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami improved to 3-2 on the road in ACC games but is 0-6 at home. ... Miller missed Florida State's previous two games with an ankle injury. ... Florida State didn't attempt a free throw until the 18:21 mark of the second half and finished 10-of-14 at the free-throw line while Miami went 24-of-33.
