Washington State 73, UCLA 61: Brock Motum had 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Cougars beat the visiting Bruins on their home floor for the first time in 20 years and put a major dent in their Pac-12 title hopes.

Royce Woolridge contributed 19 points for Washington State (12-18, 3-14 Pac-12), which ended a nine-game losing streak. D.J. Shelton added 13 points and Dexter Kernich-Drew finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Cougars.

Jordan Adams scored 18 points, Shabazz Muhammad had 14 and Norman Powell scored 10 off the bench for UCLA (22-8, 12-5). The Bruins dropped a half-game behind first-place Oregon, which plays at Colorado on Thursday night.

Washington State scored the game’s first seven points, 19 of the first 22 and 25 of 29 before the Bruins were able to cut the deficit to 35-24 at the half. UCLA shot 7-for-23 in the first half and committed eight turnovers of its 12 turnovers.

UCLA pulled within six on Muhammad’s 3-pointer with 17:19 remaining, but went the next four minutes without a basket, allowing Washington State to extend its lead back to double figures. The Bruins never got back within seven points after that.

GAME NOTEBOOK: UCLA F Travis Wear reinjured his right foot early in the second half, an injury which had caused him to sit out two of the previous three games, and did return. He’s the team’s third-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder. … The Cougars played without their second and third-leading scorers, DaVonte Lacy and Mike Ladd, who were out with knee injuries. … Washington State benefited from 16 offensive rebounds.
