Joe Coleman scored 16 points to lead Minnesota to a 75-52 win over Northwestern at Williams Arena.

Minnesota (15-5, 3-4 Big Ten) won its third straight while Northwestern (12-7, 2-5 Big Ten) dropped its fourth straight on the road. The home team has won the last 10 meetings between these programs.

Julian Welch stole the ball and soared in for the lay-in to put Minnesota ahead by 20 with just under five minutes remaining in the game. The junior scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.

All five Golden Gophers starters scored in double figures. Minnesota has been shooting the lights out during this three-game win streak, knocking down 54 percent from the field.

John Shurna led Northwestern with 21 points, but shot just 2 of 8 from the foul line. Alex Marcotullio scored 11 points off the bench in his first game back after suffering a concussion versus Michigan State last week.

Minnesota jumped out to an 18-4 lead as Northwestern went 2 for 18 from the field in the first 10 minutes. The Wildcats were scoreless for the first eight minutes of the first half.

The Golden Gophers dominated inside, outscoring the Wildcats 42-18 in the paint.
