William Buford scored 18 points as No. 2 Ohio State wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a comfortable 69-40 home win over in-state rival Miami.
The Buckeyes (12-1), who have won NCAA-best 54 consecutive games against unranked opponents, scored the first 11 points of the game and were never threatened. Ohio State added another 15-2 spurt early in the second half to build an insurmountable 41-21 cushion with 14:11 remaining.
Deshaun Thomas added 15 points for the Buckeyes, who forced18 turnovers and held Miami (3-7) to 33 percent shooting from the floor. After holding Lamar to 0-for-12 shooting from 3-point range on Tuesday, Ohio State shut the Redhawks out from behind the arc as well until Brian Sullivan hit on his team’s ninth attempt with 7:16 left.
Julian Mavunga posted game highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds for Miami.
