Robbie Hummel scored a game-high 19 points and Purdue used a pair of key second half runs to rally past Western Carolina 65-60 on Wednesday in West Lafayette, Ind. Then after falling behind 37-36 with 11 minutes remaining, the Boilermakers used a 13-3 spurt to take control against the Catamounts (5-5).
Hummel scored 10 in the second half as Purdue held off Western Carolina, despite shooting just 38.5 percent from the field and missing 17 of 36 free throw attempts. Lewis Jackson added 15 points for the Boilermakers.
Harouna Mutombo led Western Carolina with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Trey Sumler chipped in with 15 points and eight boards.
