Yancy Gates had 18 points and 11 rebounds as Cincinnati bounced back from one of the most stunning losses in program history with a 71-43 victory over visiting Northwestern State on Monday.
Sean Kilpatrick added 13 points to lead the Bearcats (3-1), who fell to Presbyterian 56-54 on Saturday to end their 20-game regular-season home non-conference winnning streak and drop them from the Top 25.
James Hulbin and Shamir Davis scored 13 points apiece for Northwestern State (2-3), which was playing its fifth game in 10 days.
Cincinnati again played sluggish ball early in the game, but closed the first half on a 12-2 run to take a 31-16 lead at halftime.
The Bearcats, who couldn't hold a 15-point lead midway through the second half Saturday, didn't let up this time. The lead reached 55-33 on Cashmere Wright's 3-pointer with 9:55 to play and Cincinnati avoided any late surprises.
Northwestern State center William Mosley was carried to the locker room with a knee injury in the second half. Mosley is averaging 8.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.
