Boone Jenner recorded his 100th career goal and first hat trick as the Columbus Blue Jackets broke out for a wild 7-4 victory over the visiting Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.
Zach Werenski and Josh Anderson each had one goal and three assists for the playoff-contending Blue Jackets, who were shut out twice in the past three contests and posted seven non-shootout goals while losing four of their previous six.
The Bruins, meanwhile, have lost two straight in regulation following their 15-0-4 stretch. Second in the Atlantic Division, Boston had not gone consecutive games without collecting a point since Dec. 23 and Dec. 27.
Boston's Brad Marchand reached the 30-goal mark for a fourth straight season and equaled his career high of 85 points with two goals and an assist Tuesday.
Linemate Patrice Bergeron had one of each for the Bruins, who trailed 5-1 in the second period before making things interesting.
Bergeron opened the scoring four minutes into the game when he converted a saucer pass from Marchand for Boston's third short-handed goal in five games. Bergeron has each of those goals.
Columbus, though, scored the next five goals.
Anderson snapped a nine-game goal drought 7:19 into the first. The Blue Jackets went ahead with 5:42 left in the period as Ryan Dzingel (goal, two assists) banked one in off Boston goalie Tuukka Rask for his first goal in nine games since being acquired from Ottawa.
Columbus then added its own short-handed goal when Jenner scored off a rebound with 5.2 seconds to lead 3-1 after the first period.
The fun continued for the Blue Jackets at 7:09 into the second when Matt Duchene went top shelf. Jenner posted his milestone goal one minute later to chase Rask (19 saves), who was 16-0-3 in his previous 19 decisions.
However, Marchand scored twice in the second, sandwiched around Chris Wagner's third in five games, and the Bruins were down just 5-4 after two periods. A Werenski power-play goal and Jenner's empty-netter in the third kept Columbus in control.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 27 saves for the Blue Jackets. Bruins backup goalie Jaroslav Halak stopped nine of the 10 shots he faced.
