VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Jannik Hansen is starting to get back in the groove.

Hansen scored twice as the Vancouver Canucks erased an early 1-0 deficit with four unanswered goals in a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.

Hansen, who returned to the lineup Dec. 11 after missing 16 games with broken ribs, has three goals in his last two games.

"It takes a little bit to come back from your injury feeling good, getting the endurance back up," said Hansen, who has five goals and nine points in 17 games.

"Being able to play not just a period or two but the whole game, it definitely is a work in progress. Hopefully I'll get some more practices in and get a better feel. It's never easy to be out and come back."

Hansen's first goal was a classic example of puck control by linemates Henrik and Daniel Sedin.

Henrik Sedin threaded a pass from behind the net that Hansen blasted through traffic past Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. A leaping Daniel Sedin helped screen Hellebuyck.

The goal came after the Sedins controlled the puck in the Jets' end for close to 40 seconds.

"Whenever you score, your line looks good," Hansen said. "We were starting to control the puck a little bit more, having more extended shifts in the other team's end.

"Whenever (the Sedins) get the puck, you let them do their thing and try to find open space. Somehow, some way, the puck always tends to find you when you're open."

Henrik Sedin, who had two assists on the night, said Hansen's return adds another dimension to the Canucks' top line.

"Jannik brings a lot of speed to our line, gives us a lot more room to work down low and off the rush," Sedin said. "He's done a great job since he's been back."

Sven Baertschi and Bo Horvat (empty net) also scored for Vancouver (14-16-3).

Blake Wheeler scored for Winnipeg, which saw a two-game winning streak snapped. The Jets (15-17-3) have won back-to-back games six times this season but haven't put three straight wins together.

Vancouver goaltender Jacob Markstrom, making his first start in four games, stopped 31 shots.

Hansen's second goal early in the third period gave Vancouver a 2-1 lead.

Baertschi extended the lead to 3-1 on a breakaway at 6:41. He blocked Dustin Byfuglien's shot just inside the Canucks' zone, then grabbed the loose puck. Baertschi used his speed to outrace the Jets' defensemen before scoring his seventh of the season on a backhand.

Byfuglien's bullet of a shot hit Baertschi on the ankle, where he wasn't wearing any pads, leaving his foot numb on the breakaway.

"It hurt like hell," he said. "It was totally numb, didn't feel a thing. I will take the pain to get the breakaway."

Battling back from deficits is something the Canucks are used to. They have given up the first goal in 25 of 33 games this year.

"We played 40 good minutes today," Hansen said. "That was enough, but obviously, the start was not what we wanted.

"We've been having a hard time stringing full games together. Today was enough."

The momentum the Jets got from Wheeler's goal faded as the game progressed.

Coach Paul Maurice said his team tried to get too fancy.

"That was probably how we got into trouble. We were looking to create things when we didn't need to," he said. "I don't know if we tried to slow the game down or thought somehow we would be able to move it through the neutral zone, but we struggled with that, for sure."

Late in the third, both Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers had good scoring chances but missed.

Hellebuyck, who finished with 20 saves, said the bounces just didn't go Winnipeg's way.

"I think we deserved a better outcome," he said. "I thought we were playing a pretty good game the whole way. It was just one of those games."
